Assistant Chief Don Davids is a resident of Aurora, Illinois. He has been a member of the Aurora Fire Department as a Firefighter/Paramedic for 26 years, currently assigned as Assistant Chief of Support Services. In this role, he oversees purchasing and maintenance of major equipment as well as buildings and grounds. He has extensive experience in diversified roles including 24 years as a member of the water rescue team, 15 years with the Hazardous Materials Response Team, 8 years as the Team Coordinator. Having Associate Degrees in Emergency Medical Technician /Paramedic and Fire Science Technology, Don always seeks to improve his knowledge by taking advantage of the educational opportunities at the National Fire Academy as well as other growth opportunities as available. Outside activities include: the Illinois Task Force 1, Urban Search and Rescue Team as a Planning Team Manager; Mutual Aid Box Alarm System Hazmat Steering as a Committee Co-Chairperson; and the Aurora Noon Lions Club. He was named Firefighter of the Year in 2007 as well as Co-Firefighter of the year in 1999. He received an Individual Citation for Exceptional Skills and Devotion to Duty in 2007 and was honored with the MABAS President's Leadership Award for Outstanding Meritorious Service in 2011.
