Chief David Fleege serves as the MABAS-ILLINOIS Operations Branch Chief, North Central Region.
He is currently responsible for eight MABAS-ILLINOIS Divisions. Included within his geographic region are eight MABAS-IL Statewide Technical Rescue Teams, five MABAS-IL Statewide Hazardous Materials Teams and two Water Rescue Teams. Chief Fleege is responsible for performing annual Staff Assistance Visits (SAV) with each north central region division. He also performs additional duties and responsibilities within MABAS-ILLINOIS including, mobilization support, divisional Special Teams Support and is MABAS-IL Liaison to the Hazardous Materials Committee.
Chief Fleege retired in 2010 after serving as the Fire Chief of the La Grange (IL) Fire Department for 6 years. Prior to this, Chief Fleege served over 28 years with the City of Wheaton (IL) Fire Department, including 21 years as Chief, from which he retired in 2002.
Chief Fleege has an Associates Degree in Fire Science from College of Du Page and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fire Administration from Lewis University in Romeoville. He also has obtained numerous fire certifications including FO I & II, Instructor IV, FPO I, NIMS.
He is married and has two adult children.
