​​Joe Cluchey​

Joe Cluchey has thirty-four years of progressive fire service experience, including twelve years as Chief of Department.  In February of 2014 he retired from the South Elgin Fire District to take on the roll of Statewide Operations Section Chief with MABAS-IL.  In this current role, Cluchey is responsible for the coordination and control of MABAS Operational Assets including Statewide Deployable Special Teams and Illinois Task Force-1 (USAR).  

In addition to his fire department responsibilities, he formerly served as the department chair of fire science for McHenry County College, and has over twenty-five years of training and instructor experience.  Chief Cluchey is the Past President of Kane County Fire Chief's Association, Past President for MABAS Division 2, and was appointed by the MABAS IL President to serve as the Intergovernmental Liaison for IL Public Works, Code Enforcement, and Parks agencies.  

His educational background includes: an Associates Degree in Fire Science from Elgin Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Management from Southern Illinois University, and is a graduate of the prestigious National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program.
